PPCA announces Homecoming Court

PEARL – The 2020 Homecoming Court for Park Place Christian Academy (PPCA) was announced recently in anticipation of the school’s Homecoming game on October 9th when the PPCA Crusaders will face the Cougars of Central Hinds Academy.

The game will be played in Pearl on the Henry F. Shepherd Field (former Pearl High School football field) and conducted according to the latest state mandate regarding social distancing and seating capacity.

Members of the Homecoming Court are nominated and elected by their peers in 9th-12th grades, with the Homecoming Queen elected by the entire high school student body.

Four Senior Maids are eligible for the title of Homecoming Queen this year: Sarah Kate Grice, Ariel Knott, Emma Grace Roberts, and Haleigh Wells.

Sarah Kate Grice is the daughter of Heath and Christa Grice of Richland. Ariel Knott is the daughter of Sanford and Trina Knott of Jackson. Emma Grace Roberts is the daughter of Douglas Roberts of Brentwood, Tenn., and Kymberly Roberts of Brandon. Haleigh Wells is the daughter of Jason Wells of Brandon and Tabitha Snowdy of Brandon.

Junior Maids are Ashley Hester and Emma Katherine Moore. Miss Hester is the daughter of Karl and Michelle Hester of Pearl, and Miss Moore is the daughter of Charles and Mindy Weathersby of Brandon.

Young ladies selected for Sophomore Maids are Carley Dawkins and Anna Grace Watkins. Miss Dawkins is the daughter of Lee Dawkins of Pelahatchie and Carla Dearman of Pearl, and Miss Watkins is the daughter of Todd and Teresa Watkins of Pearl.

Katie Cook and Ella Cruthirds were elected as Freshman Maids. Miss Cook is the daughter of Jason and Carrie Cook of Pelahatchie, and Miss Cruthirds is the daughter of Andy and Andi Cruthirds of Brandon.

Following in the school’s tradition of selecting second-grade children of faculty members, this year’s crown bearer is Slade McGehee, son of Bud and Sunny McGehee of Brandon, and the three flower girls are Alexis Acevedo, daughter of Luis and Christy Acevedo of Pearl, Lilee Hemphill, daughter of Les and Lee Ann Hemphill of Brandon, and Landry Willoughby, daughter of Adam and Abby Willoughby of Brandon.

Mr. Jason Cook is PPCA’s Head of School, and serving as administrators are Mrs. Sunny McGehee, Preschool Director, Mrs. Cindy Goodwin, Elementary Principal, Mr. Bobby Barrett, Middle School Principal, and Mr. Stacey Sykes, High School Principal.

PPCA is a ministry of Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl where Dr. Keith Grubbs is the Senior Pastor.
