Sarah Kate Grice

PEARL – A Park Place Christian Academy (PPCA) senior received top honors at the 2020-2021 Spring Convention held by the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) at the Muse Center of Hinds Community College.

Sarah Kate Grice was doubly recognized at the annual meeting for leaders in Student Council  and National Honor Society (NHS) where she was honored as the MAIS Outstanding NHS Member and the MAIS Outstanding NHS President.

Miss Grice is the daughter of Heath and Christa Grice of Richland.

While at PPCA, Sarah Kate helped to organize several service projects including supplying supplies for The Little Light House, a preschool for children with special needs, and a Law Enforcement Appreciation project in which students collected snacks and delivered them to local law enforcement agencies.

Other students representing PPCA at the January 13th meeting included Student Council President Connor Dyess; Treasurer Kylee Harvey; Junior Class President Emma Katherine Moore; Junior Class Vice President Amanda Miranda; NHS Vice President Alex Roberts, NHS Treasurer Maci Taylor, and NHS Historian Grace Ledlow.

The keynote speaker for the event was Carla Nicks, a Human Resource Specialist with UPS.

The charitable focus for this year’s event was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and MAIS schools raised over $6,000 for help with research.

Attending the convention as chaperones were PPCA secondary math teacher and NHS sponsor Mrs. GyElla Hinton and PPCA drama and Bible teacher Mrs. Tami Ham, Student Council sponsor.

Jason Cook is PPCA’s Head of School and Mr. Stacey Sykes is the secondary principal.

As a Biblically based Christian school for the past 20 years, PPCA is a ministry of Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, where Dr. Keith Grubbs is the senior pastor.
