Park Place Christian Academy School Board and Administration recently announced the retirement of Doug Elkins as Head Football Coach.

In a statement offered by Dr. Darren Scoggin, PPCA School Board Chairman, Elkins was recognized for the six years of service at PPCA.

“We are thankful to him for his great work at the school and the investment he has made in the athletic program,” wrote Scoggin.

While at PPCA, Elkins led the school out of an 8-man football program into the 11-man game.

His successful career included leading PPCA to its first playoff win in school history.

“Colleagues and students will all miss Coach Elkins as he heads into retirement,” said Lori Clendinning, PPCA Media Relations and Publications Director.

“Doug has consistently been a hard-working and focused individual whose foremost concern was raising up young men to be their best on and off the playing field,” she continued.

Those remarks were echoed by the school’s Athletic Director and Head of School, Jason Cook.

‘Coach Elkins has a great work ethic,” Cook said. “He also has a very tender heart toward the kids that he’s coached and taught.”

Prior to being PPCA’s head football coach, Elkins worked for the Madison County School District where he was successful in the athletic program there.

“We’ll miss him,” said Bobby Barrett, PPCA’s Assistant Athletic Director.

A ministry of Park Place Baptist Church, PPCA offers Biblically based curriculum and a Christian worldview to its K3-12th grade students.
