John Wesley Cochran‘s essay “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It” won Local and District recognition in the Daughters of America essay competition.
The son of Wes and Jenny Cochran of Brandon, John Wesley is a senior who plans to earn a Sports Broadcast degree from Mississippi College or Mississippi State University after attending Hinds Community College.
John Wesley’s essay which focused on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism was awarded a $100 scholarship.
His essay is now entered into the DAR’s State Good Citizen Essay competition.
