Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Park Place Christian Academy held its annual Spiritual Emphasis Week for secondary students in March.
Students met in various locations across the PPCA campus in order to maintain social distancing protocol, per the instructions of Mr. Stacey Sykes, PPCA High School Principal, and Mr. Bobby Barrett,
Locations included the main sanctuary of Park Place Baptist Church, the Chapel room in the 201 building, and in the cafeteria and little lunchroom where teachers and students gathered to hear faculty members share devotions based on the Fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Using a rotation schedule, students and teachers gathered in the sanctuary by grades throughout the week to hear the week’s main speaker, Reid Stevens, PPBC’s Students and College Minister.
In the sanctuary, students were led in worship by the praise team comprised of PPCA alum Dante Collado on acoustic guitar and vocals, along with 8th grade PPCA student Drew Singletary on electric guitar, and 9th grade PPCA student Chris Atkinson providing vocals.
Providing additional worship music in the Chapel room was PPCA English teacher Mr. John Clendinning who played acoustic guitar.
A prerecorded testimony of her personal relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior was shared by senior Cait May in the sanctuary.
Although offering plates weren’t passed due to COVID-19 restrictions, students were given the opportunity to contribute financially via offering boxes designated for giving to But God Ministries, based in Jackson, Miss.
